Very interesting, Dog-man-thing! I gotta admire that trait, sir, as I have almost none of that in me and am likely less wealthy for it! On the other side of that coin, though, I belong to an organization that is nearly 100% run by volunteers. Outside of some weekends of fun every year, and some pretend awards of titles or lands, no one gets a thing. In fact, it ends up costing most a sizeable portion of their income. For some, it requires a commitment of one year... pretty much every weekend. Free, as in you don't get paid, not so free in that it costs to travel and attend the functions... every single weekend for a year. Amazing, I know, and yet they line up for the chance. So I guess, it's really a perspective thing as to whether or not there needs to be compensation, or are they compensated enough already. I'm guessing... oxxx{============================>

Your Not Expecting Something, your Getting Something,
if your Motivations are True. This thread started kinda weird, but this is actually getting somewhere! a persistent question has got us thinking, in general, and I like that. Max is correct to ask the most difficult question of all. On any topic ''WHY''....? As I get it, a job is offered. The nature of it is law enforcing. What is the motive, esoteric or not, that makes some people raise their hands and some other not to and turn their backs...? For example, I know I would be in the second group. I just don't like enforcing anyone do anything. Although I cannot really deny the necessity of it... Strange...

I was asked also by Gibson to assist with the forum, although prior to the "official position" I would pm the mods to let them know about offending posts etc..... Why do it? Hmmm I am here almost everyday anyways and I consider myself a fair person who follows the rules and since the rules are cut and dried its pretty easy to enforce. I get nothing monetary to do this, I actually enjoy doing this to a point. What I have gotten out of this is far more important than any payments. I have gotten to know a few of you and besides the internet profile there are real people behind those posts. The Member of the Month was my idea and I think this is a fantastic feature and I'm surprised that this forum didn't do it before. So far those individuals picked (Axe and Sears) present what a musician real is, this person is a rounded individual and I am very happy to know both individual. While I did start this feature, I have nothing to do with the voting and I then put the feature together so that Gibson can post it on their web site. This is the fantastic part of the Mod position. Meeting people and trying to assist in the growing numbers of members with either direct knowledge or putting people together that might know the answer. This would be 95% of this position The other 5% has had me banging my head up against the wall with a few things that have happened here; majority of the head banging happens with noobs or my few mini mods here. They know who they are, and some have tried to have me removed because I have stated a position on a subject and I have never directly gone after any person here unless given a reason. I try to send out a few PM's to the individuals and that solves 99% or the problems; but there is that 1% who cry censorship, that I am being unfair or finally I am not allowed to have feelings about a subject. Then its usually taken a step up from that by these 3 people with direct attacks here on the forum; while they are crying to Gibson. We are adults here and its those who are adults or those who act like adults that make this position very enjoyable and this personally makes me want to try to push more programs through Gibson for the forum. I have received nothing from Gibson (but if they want to send me a guitar or something I would gladly take it) and I enjoy doing this position. I enjoy working with Ksdaddy and Gibson; and meeting many of you because without this forum I would not have been able to meet each and everyone of you.

Jocko's answer sounds pretty forthright to me Maxxie Boy. How long are you going to carry on with your incesant whining about mods? Time to drop it. Move on to something more substantive. You're starting to show your ignorance.

Guitarest Thanx's and That Was a Great Answer.
That is most likely why you are a Good Fit For the Position and A Good Mod
and Exactly Why you Deserve Some Graditude.

Your Not Expecting Something, your Getting Something,
if your Motivations are True. = I could be wrong, but it sure seems like your're really asking if the Gibson mods had ulterior motives in becoming mods. Maybe it would be easier if you defined your idea of "True Motivations", as that is a fairly subjective thing. Or at least it can be. Then they would know how best to answer you. As it stands, I'm not sure anyone is sure if you're asking for them to get something material, or are you trying to figure out their motivation.... Does that make sense? (and +1 on an accidently interesting topic) oxxx{============================>
