I'm always wary of guitars for sale with no "straight on" photographs. Photos all at these distorted angles...its a good way to hide shapes of headstocks that are real indicators for counterfeit guitars. Why doesn't the seller take clean, unstretched, un-angled photos. Ask for a new set of photographs. If the seller is serious about selling he'll send you all the photos you want....

I have never seen a "limited edition" badge like that on the back of any other Gibson. I've never seen a "Maestro" clone of a Bigsby style vibrato like this one either. My vote is its a fake, a counterfeit.

Cheers, Cryoman

I tend to agree something wrong with that guitar. I have never seen a limited edition like that either.....

From what i can get from the serial number (01550320), it was made in nashville, June 4th, 2000, Production number 29 (Correct me if i'm wrong).
Looks a bit earlier than a 2000? Confused

If it's not too far away from you, go have a look & a play if possible.

Oh alright, so the verdict's that's it's fake? The seller actually has quite a good reputation locally, just that I can't find any information about this guitar. Actually emailed Gibson too, they replied for pictures then stopped replying since. Thanks for all your help anyway! :) :)

I certainly can't summarily call it a fake. I just recommend a much, much closer look. I can't find on the internet any reference to that copy/clone of the Bigsby tremolo. A Gibson "Maestro" tremolo was a historical Gibson hardware setup (tons of photos on the internet). The "Maestro" on this Gibson in question is obviously something different that I've never seen on a Gibson before....

Good luck.

Its real.

Also, I don't think people who sell counterfit guitars deserve a few years in jail or burning in hell.

That's ridi****us. Basically it's just copyright or trademark infringement and deception.

It's shady... not quite the unforgivable sin.
